The train station is the starting location for the Animal Crossing (GCN) and Animal Crossing: New Leaf games.
In Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk, however, this building and the police station join together to form the Gate; and the messages that are given from here on GameCube are now given from the city council. Unlike other buildings, it is always centered to the north, like the Gate.
This building connects with the town's rails, along which trains will pass that will pick us up or drop us off, as well as other trains that will only pass and will not stop at our station.
Animal Crossing (GCN)
In this first installment of Animal Crossing, the station has two uses: the arrival trip to town and trips to other towns. Whenever we are up, we will see Rover, who will chat with us, and other eventual characters such as Joan or Saharah, usually sleeping.
Home
When you start in Animal Crossing (GCN) you sit in front of Rover, and he, like in Animal Crossing: City Folk, asks you questions to define your external appearance. It is important because you will have it for the entire game. You can see Joan a few seats behind, sometimes sleeping (except if it's Sunday). To see more information on how to define your external appearance, you can go here.
Communication
Since the game does not have an Internet connection, the only way to change town is to put another Animal Crossing Memory Card in the other slot of the GameCube, talk to the monkey at the station, (Porter) and get on the train. To go to a friend's town, the other Memory Card must contain the other Animal Crossing game.
On Rover's return, if there are other players in the town, he will commit the Town Glitch and the Player, an error in the construction of the text:
he will tell you, for example: do you know Barcelona? She lives in María when it would be: do you know María? She lives in Barcelona.
If the other Memory Card does not have any Animal Crossing games, but has at least 3 free blocks, you will be sent to a random town. But you will never access it, rather the game will restart to the title screen and you will possibly receive a letter from a villager who has never come to live in your town but who has just left (glitch?). This method of using a memory card without game data (saved travel data) is useful when a third memory card is involved, that is, it is useful if you plan to use an "empty" memory, as a bridge between two different cards with two different towns.
K.K.
In Animal Crossing (GCN), K.K. touches down in front of the Train Station, just to the right of the Map Board and the stairs. While you watch the credits, on the left of the screen, the player, K.K. and the stool he sits on will change backgrounds, watching the four seasons pass by.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf

The first time the player arrives in town, he will stop at this station (since he will come by train). Also, we will travel by train to visit friends. Therefore, there are no changes in use, although the connection between players is adapted to the gate system (using the red doors located in front of Porter) and to the StreetPass (local connection) and Nintendo Network (Internet connection). Therefore, former gate keepers Copper and Booker return to their GameCube roles as police officers at the police station, although you will only be able to enjoy the presence of one of them (when you build it). He will also wear the town's flag; and it will have a clock with hands, an explanatory board of the building, and a locker connected in the same way as the closets and chests of drawers in our house, no matter where town the player is at.
To go to the Commercial Area, the player will have to cross the tracks, which is one of the new features of this installment.
Designs
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf the player can modify the layout of the train station, but the player can only do so when the player has been visited by another player 100 times.

Colors
The original design of the station will have a random color from four: yellow, red, green and blue.

Trivia
- In Animal Crossing (GCN) there is an error in the construction of the text, made when returning from a town by Rover, commented on this section.
- The operation of the station in New Leaf is the same as that of Gate, which is an improvement over GameCube.
- In Animal Crossing: New Leaf this station is accessed as if it were an interior building (although the exterior can be seen from the inside) while in Animal Crossing (GCN) it was part of the exterior of the town. This change may have been a space-saving measure.
