- It is notable that Tommy seems to be directly named after Tom Nook.
- Additionally, Timmy and Tommy's Spanish names, when combined, are "Tendo y Nendo". This is almost certainly a pun on the name of their creators, Nintendo, who are one of the largest video game publishers around.
