From Animal Crossing Wiki

Template:Infobox Fossil The diplodocus is a multi-part fossil that can be donated to the museum in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It can be collected by Happy Home Handbook in Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. This dinosaur is technically the same as the seismosaur, as that is its name in the Japanese version of Animal Crossing: New Leaf (Jump Out) and most localized versions and, scientifically, the names are synonymous. In New Leaf, the diplodocus has five parts; in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it has six.

Donation to the museum

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, a plaque by the display offers information about the fossil instead of Blathers.

"The diplodocus was an herbivore of the late Jurassic period sporting a tremendously long tail and neck. The neck was so long that, from snout to tail, its length could reach a staggering 175 feet long. Evidence suggests it would use its long, slender tail like a whip to defend itself from attackers."

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Upon donation or selecting "Tell me more about this!", Blathers the curator will say:

"Good old Diplodocus—what would we do without you? This stout fellow embodied all the best in dinosaurs. Those sturdy legs, that magnificent tail, and, above all, that extraordinary neck! Did you know that its center of gravity was such that sitting up on its hind legs was probably easy? What's more paired with its long neck, this ability greatly increased its reach for eating plants! Best of all, Diplodocus probably grew its entire life, having no "adult size." Would that we were all so gifted!"

The diplodocus is displayed in the center of the second fossil room, along with brachiosaurus.
