Butch (ジョン, John) is a cranky, dog villager in the Animal Crossing series. His name reflects on the cartoon name given to dogs, usually meaning muscular in appearance. His rottweiler appearance may also relate to this, as they too appear masculine and muscular. His initial phrase, "ROOOOOWF", is a slight adjustment on the spelling "woof" and "ruff". He is the first dog with a cranky personality.

Appearance

Butch is a caramel orange-brown and chocolate ebony dog with creamy white and dark brown tipped paws, possibly being a Rottweiler,Dachshund, or Doberman. His eyebrows always show a frown. He has a great, dark dog nose with a corkscrew smile and his eyes look very serious. His dark brown, floppy dog ears slightly transition into a caramel color at the tip. His tail is also dark chocolate and his arms and legs are the same color as his head. He wears an Arctic Camo that is a very snowy, light blue with slightly darker blue, large spots splashed around on top of it. Butch also wears a Houndstooth Knit in Animal Crossing (GCN).

As a cranky villager, Butch will appear more mature compared to other male personality types. This will make him come off as rude and belittling when talking to other villagers, including the player. Despite this, he will learn to confide in the player, considering them his only friend. He will enjoy the usual hobbies; not for competition, but for relaxing and peaceful reasons of calm and tranquility. He will find it difficult to socialize with peppy villagers, who he will appear rude behind their backs to. He will get along with snooty villagers, as well as other cranky villagers, who he will share deeper conversations with. He will, on occasion, annoy a normal villager, usually when being mean about something or someone. When he is sick, he will insult the illness.

House

Butch's house is very Modern styled, with much of the Modern Series including a Modern Bed and a Modern Table with 1 Nebuloid and a Gold Stereo that plays K.K. Fusion. The Wallpaper is the Concrete Wall and the Flooring is the Modern Tile.
