Hotel (New Horizons)

From Animal Crossing Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

The hotel (referred to as the Resort Hotel in promotional material) is a facility introduced in the Template:NHVer for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Located on an expanded pier in the town, it is operated by Kapp'n and his family. Leilani serves as the hotel's receptionist, while Grams operates the hotel's souvenir shop. Leila is found sitting in the lobby, while Kapp'n can be found sitting in his boat outside the hotel.

The hotel is constructed only after having achieved a three-star island rating and receiving K.K. Slider, as well as having built the museum.[1] Once constructed, the pier will be expanded with a large platform to incorporate the hotel building, along with a small extension at the end where Kapp'n's boat can be found docked. If the player has already met the prerequisites when the 3.0 update is installed, the completed pier expansion and hotel are added immediately upon loading the game.

Function

Upon first visiting the hotel, Tom Nook will recruit the player to assist Leilani in setting up the hotel. Leilani will task the player to decorate the hotel's guest rooms in line with specific themes, utilising a similar interior design system to that used for Paradise Planning in Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Happy Home Paradise. Leilani will award the player Hotel Tickets for completing projects. These can be exchanged for exclusive furniture and clothing in a souvenir shop run by Grams in the hotel lobby. The player can also acquire Hotel Tickets by submitting DIY goods that are requested from a drop box in front of the hotel. Once the player has submitted the goods, Kapp'n will deliver them offshore, and this will in turn increase the hotel's brand recognition.

Visiting tourists will appear on the island, and the player can invite them to stay in the hotel. Guests who have checked in will be able to freely walk around the island, much like resident villagers. The player can also scan amiibo to invite specific characters as VIP guests, however certain special characters such as Tom Nook and Isabelle cannot be invited. Special characters who are visiting the town on the current day also cannot be invited while they are present.

Two mannequins are present in the lobby and can be dressed in custom outfits. These outfits can be worn by both animal and human visitors to the hotel, and can be used as means to quickly share common outfits amongst friends during multiplayer sessions. Leilani will introduce the function to the player on their second day of working at the hotel. When a player borrows an outfit, the button in their pockets to remove clothing will be replaced with a button to return the outfit.

After completing the first hotel room and receiving the first guest, the player can visit Tom Nook in Resident Services to hold a completion ceremony for the hotel. During the ceremony, both Leilani and the guest currently staying in the first room will give a short speech to the gathered crowd.

DIY Requests

Tom Nook will introduce the player to DIY requests after the player has completed their first hotel room design. These are orders for DIY goods that are requested for delivery offshore, and are submitted to the DIY Donation Box outside the hotel. Requests can be checked from the drop box directly, or from a tab in the DIY crafting menu. Each request shows the name and icon of the item, the required quantity, and the number of tickets that will be rewarded after submission. Four requests will be available to fulfil at all times, with completed requests being immediately replaced with new ones. The full list is completely refreshed every Monday.

Some requests may feature a multiplier to the reward. Kapp'n will also reward the player with a bonus of File:Hotel Tickets NH.png 100 Hotel Tickets for every 10 DIY requests that are fulfilled.

Each request is technically classed as one of four difficulty levels (low, middle, high, highest), based on the base values of the specific materials needed to craft it. The higher the individual request's difficulty, the greater the potential reward.[2]

Standard Rooms

The hotel features 8 standard guest rooms on the upper level. When the player begins assisting the hotel, they can design up to two of these guest rooms a day.Template:Note Leilani will ask the player to design the very first room to fit a Seaside Room theme, but with each subsequent room she will offer the player a choice between two different themes. Leilani will give the player File:Hotel Tickets NH.png 200 Hotel Tickets for every room that is completed. The player can use the Camera app on their NookPhone to take a photo that will be used to represent the room. Taking a photo is required for the first room, but not subsequent ones. If the player owns Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Happy Home Paradise, they may use any of the exclusive designing features included in the DLC (such as custom light color, partition walls, or changing the room's size) when designing hotel rooms, provided the player has already unlocked the feature from working for Paradise Planning.

Tourists will appear on the island each day to fill the number of vacant, completed rooms that are available at the start of the day. The first tourist, however, will check in directly after the player designs the first room, and will always be a male Lazy villager. Tourists wear the outfits adorned on the mannequins in the hotel lobby, and their nameplate will simply read "Tourist" instead of their name until they introduce themselves to the player.

The player can visit completed rooms by walking upstairs and choosing a room from the floorplan. The floorplan shows a photo of the room (if one has been taken), the creator of the room and their icon, and the name and icon of its occupant if a guest is checked in. Guests will always appear inside of their rooms when the player enters and can be interacted with. When the player leaves a room, they'll be prompted to choose if they want to visit a different room or return to the lobby. Only resident players on the island may visit the hotel's guest rooms. If a visiting player attempts to go upstairs in the host's hotel during a multiplayer session, a message will display simply prompting the player to spend time elsewhere.

After the player designs their first VIP Room, Leilani will allow the player to redesign any of the standard rooms, giving them File:Hotel Tickets NH.png 200 Hotel Tickets once per day when a room is redecorated. The theme of the room can be changed between one of the 15 standard room themes, or the player can opt to forgo a theme entirely.

VIP Room

After all eight standard guest rooms have been completed, the player will unlock the ability to design the VIP Room situated on the top floor. This can be designed according to one of 45 different themes (the 15 available themes for the standard rooms, plus 30 new themes exclusive to the VIP Room). A guest must be invited to stay in the VIP Room, and the room will be reset once they check out of the hotel the next day. One notable difference when the player is designing a VIP Room is that pressing Template:Input will make the VIP guest appear inside or disappear from the room. Once the room is complete, the player will show off the room to the VIP guest, and Leilani will offer a reward of File:Hotel Tickets NH.png 200 Hotel Tickets. The player may only complete one VIP Room design per day.

After designing the first VIP Room, Kapp'n will allow the the player to take a second boat tour each day for File:Hotel Tickets NH.png 100 Hotel Tickets. Additionally, tourists who do not have lodgings can begin to appear on the island. The player can guide them to the hotel to check in. Leilani will give the player File:Hotel Tickets NH.png 50 Hotel Tickets as thanks, or if the player accepts her suggestion to design the guest a VIP Room, she will instead reward the player with File:Hotel Tickets NH.png 300 Hotel Tickets.

amiibo

After the player designs their first VIP Room, the amiibo scanner will be added to the front desk, allowing villagers or special characters to be invited to the hotel by scanning their amiibo. If the character accepts the invitation, the player is prompted to choose a theme for their VIP Room, and will then be taken to the room to begin designing it. This can only be done once per day (though if the player cancels the design project, another character may be scanned).

The following characters cannot be invited to the hotel with amiibo. The player can scan their amiibo, but they will always decline an invitation. Template:Columns-list Additionally, resident villagers of the town will always decline an invitation as they already reside in the town. A villager who is currently staying in the campsite will decline due to already having their own accommodation.

The following characters can only be invited when they are not currently visiting the town or scheduled to visit that day. Template:Columns-list

Souvenir shop

Grams operates the Hotel's souvenir shop, with both items on display being novelty items for the hotel. When talking to Grams, the player can access a catalog of exclusive furniture items on display. This is the only way to obtain the Zen Modern Series, Kids Series, Tubular Series, and Marble Series items.

Grams will add new items to the catalog after the player has completed 4 rooms, and again after all 8 rooms have been designed. Grams will begin stocking classic Nintendo consoles in the souvenir shop after the player has both designed their first VIP Room and accumulated 400 points from completing specific tasks.[2] Note that the points are a hidden mechanic, and the number of points that the player has accumulated is not exposed in-game.
