Template:Character infobox Mario is the main character of the Mario series, older brother of Luigi, a lifelong friend of Yoshi and the Yoshi (species) and rival of Wario.

Mario is the hero of the Mushroom Kingdom and the mascot for Nintendo. He is one of, if not the most well known video game characters of all time. In the series, Mario uses his legendary jump and combat abilities to defend the peaceful inhabitants of Mushroom World from power-hungry villains such as Bowser, though many Yoshi games feature Mario in his baby form.

Mario was created by Shigeru Miyamoto. His career in video games began in 1981, when Donkey Kong was released in arcade cabinets across the world in 1981, the Italian plumber being named Jumpman, started spawning many video games for his franchise since. In most of his games, he is considered to be the most balanced.
