Barney Bubble first appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
In the game, only two appear in the level Monkey's Favorite Lake. In the remake, two more appear in the sixth world's secret level, "Endless World of Yoshis", making four in total appear in the remake.
When stepped on, these foes spit out bubbles at Yoshi. If these bubbles touch him, it results in Baby Mario floating in a bubble. If Barney Bubble is also swallowed, Yoshi can spit out bubbles temporarily.

- The Barney Bubble spits out the same bubbles as a Bubble Dayzee.
- Barney Bubble's name parodies Barney Rubble's name from The Flinstones.
