Roald (ペンタ, 'Penta'?) is a jock penguin villager from the Animal Crossing series. He has appeared in every game so far. Roald's name could possibly come from Roald Amundsen, the first person to reach Antarctica, the natural habitat of Adelie penguins. His name could also have come from the fact of "Roald" rhyming with "Cold", the temperature of the natural habitat of penguins. His initial phrase is a reference to the cold, as words are usually a stutter in cold temperatures. It is quite similar to Cube's, Gwen's, and Aurora's. He's also a chonky boy.

Roald is a dark navy blue penguin and may be an Adélie penguin. His eyes have large, black pupils, which become arch-shaped when Roald is delighted. He has a stomach that is white, and a beak, as every penguin has, that is yellow-orange. His feet are the same color as his beak, and his wings are the same color as his back.

As a jock villager, Roald is energetic and has an interest in physical fitness and activity. He often talks about exercise or sports and may brag about his physical fitness. While often friendly to the player, he may comment on their fitness. During conversations with other villagers, he generally gets along well with peppy villagers due to their similar hyper personalities and will also get along with smug villagers, while he may offend snooty villagers by critiquing their fitness and annoy cranky villagers with his hyper personality. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Roald goes to sleep at 12:30 AM and wakes up at 6:30 AM.

Roald's House includes the, Balloon Bed, Flat-Screen TV, Kiddie Couch, Ball Return, Tricycle, Capsule-Toy Machine, Jukebox, Bilboquet, Doghouse, Kiddie Wall Clock.
