2 AM has three themes in different games; a upbeat and joyful theme in Animal Crossing (GCN) and Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, a slow melodious theme in Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: Wild World, and a slow soothing theme in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
In Animal Crossing (GCN) and Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, trumpets and other horns are used,with the occasional drum sound. It's theme relates to the player who is wide awake and is joyfully doing their business.
In Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: Wild World, a electric piano and a accordion play near the middle, emphasizing the meaning of the song. A shaker is also used in the song. The theme relates to the day, since the day hasn't "started" yet; all the villagers are sound asleep and the shops are all closed.
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, there is prominent electric piano and electric guitar played, with the occasional whistling. It's theme relates to the day, similar to Animal Crossing: City Folk's 2 AM. It has a quiet bouncy tune but not a sleepy one.
Trivia
The Animal Crossing (GCN) and Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival for N64 and GameCube, the 2 A.M. theme is very unusual, since it is so upbeat compared to the newer Animal Crossing series games.
There is a remix of Animal Crossing: Wild World's version of the song in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The remix version has K.K. Slider singing in it. It is very lively compared to Animal Crossing: Wild World's 2 AM with: drums, a guitar and a electric piano, playing that has a very bright tune to it, as if a party had been still going on. There is occasional clapping too.
