Able Sisters
The Able Sisters are two hedgehog sisters who run the local Tailor's Shop, in the Animal Crossing series. When you go to their shop, you can design a pattern to use on Shirts, Umbrellas, Wallpapers, or Rugs. Also, in Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk, clothes are now bought at their shop instead of at Tom Nook's store.
Sable
Sable is a shy brown hedgehog, she is ten years older than her sister. She is always working the sewing machine. If the Player talks to her on a daily basis, she will be less shy around that Player, and tell him or her stories about her childhood, about the death of her parents, and about having to raise her sister. Also, she tells tales of Tom Nook when he was younger and stories of other Villagers in your town. One of the reasons that Sable doesn't talk much is because she is the reason the "third" able sister isn't with them anymore. See Labelle for more.

Mabel
Mabel is a blue hedgehog, the younger and more energetic of the two. She sometimes complains that her sister is too shy. She takes care of most of the day-to-day dealings, such as providing materials to create patterns and selling items.
Trivia
- When Mabel greets the Player in Animal Crossing: Wild World, she uses the slogan, "Where YOU are the famous fashion designer."
- In the new Animal Crossing: City Folk, the Able Sisters might be related to a shopkeeper who works in GracieGrace, named Labelle. Neighbors around town can be heard talking about a third sibling to the pair and a possible cover-up as to her existence. This unfortunately only succeeds in undoing nearly everything longtime fans have learned about the Able Sisters and their family, and adding somewhat of a pointless soap opera element to the game.
- It becomes apparent when talking to Sable that her parents both died when she was young, leaving Sable to bring up Mabel on her own. It is not clear how they died, but it has put real pressure on Sable to bring up her sister, and may explain why she is so reserved.
- Sable and Tom Nook were great friends in their youth, both having dreams of opening their own stores. When Tom Nook went to the city, they drifted apart, not speaking to each other upon his return. Sable seems very wistful about these times, but appears not to do anything about repairing their friendship. Mabel does not know of Sable and Tom's relationship.
- Mabel and Sable had a brother, who also died.
