This is a reference to the Japanese children song "Goat Mail" (やぎさんゆうびん yagisan yūbin), which is about a black goat and a white goat sending letters to each other, but they keep eating the letters before having a chance to read them. The presence of Chevre's photo in Nan's Animal Crossing: New Horizons house and vice-versa also hints at their friendship.
