Tom (バンタム, Bantamu) is a cranky cat villager in the Animal Crossing series. His North American name is based on tomcats, another name for male cats. His name and appearance might also be a reference to the Tom and Jerry cartoons. He was absent in Animal Crossing: Wild World, but returned in Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. His Japanese name is a reference to Bantamweight, a weight division in boxing. He has the education hobby.

Tom in Animal Crossing

Tom is a blue cat with a white-tipped tail and muzzle. His hands and feet are also tipped white. The insides of his ears are colored strawberry pink. He has slanted yellow eyes with round black pupils, and his eyelids, when visible, are colored a pale blue. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, he has subtle dark purple colored irises. He has a large gray mouth shaped like a sideways 3, and the white on his arms and legs comes up in a sharp zigzag pattern. His initial shirt was the BB Tee until it was changed to a black Bulldog Jacket in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. He carries the Flame Umbrella on rainy days. He has a slight resemblance to Rosie and Moe, two other cat villagers.

House

Tom's home is very neat and oriental, containing furniture from the Exotic Series. It contrasts with his cranky personality. Upon obtaining a stereo, he will play K.K. Rally.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Tom's home is notably different, and now features multiple Race Cars, along with a Tire Stack. His flooring is the Paintball Flooring. In this game, if he has a stereo, it will play K.K. Rock.
