“You're just rarin' to go! So, uh, whaddaya need, ace?”
― Rod, Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Rod (ジャン, Jan) is a jock mouse villager in the Animal Crossing series. His name comes from "rodent", a category in which mice fall. His initial phrase, "ace," means "to succeed easily" and "highest quality," which will relate to a jock villager's competitive spirit. He first appeared in Animal Forest e+, and was exclusive to his e-Card which came with the game. He appears on the album cover for K.K. Parade. He appears on the cover of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. He has the fitness hobby.
Appearance
Rod is a purple mouse who wears a blue-and-white striped bandana on his head, making him resemble a pirate. He has two white whiskers on the sides of his cheeks along with a round black nose, brown oval eyes, and bubblegum-pink ears. He has a crescent-shaped tuft of blond hair that sticks out of his bandana. Removing his bandana by replacing it with another hat reveals that he also has shorter bangs swept away from his face. Prior to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, he wears Zipper Shirt as his initial outfit, but this changes to a blue Striped Tank that matches his bandana.
House
In Animal Forest e+, Rod has the same furniture styling as Ricky's house, only that he has the Palace Tile and the Wood Paneling as the carpet and wallpaper.
In Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk, Rod still has some of the pieces from the Ranch Series that he had from Animal Forest e+, including the Ranch Couch and two Ranch Chairs. Other pieces include the Green Counter. He has changed the carpet to the Old Flooring, and on the walls he has the Sea View. He has a Turntable that has K.K. March playing on it.
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Rod's house resembles the deck of a pirate ship. In the back, he has a helm, ship cannon, barrel, and vintage telescope. From the Ranch series, he has a ranch couch and ranch armchair. He also has a life preserver, billiard table, and a retro stereo that plays K.K. March. For wallpaper, he uses the Sea View, and for flooring, he uses the Old flooring.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Rod's house resembles a cruise ship. He has a pool, billiard table, poolside bed, beach towel, palm-tree lamp, and a jukebox that plays K.K. March. For wallpaper, he uses the Sea View, and for flooring, he uses the Ship Deck.

Pocket Camp
Rod's preferred theme is historical. His profile says:
Everything, good and bad, is "ace" in Rod's book. The thrill of exercize? Ace! The achy muscles the morning after a hardcore workout? Also ace!
