Cousteau (ハルマキ, Harumaki) is a jock frog villager in the Animal Crossing series. He first appeared in Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, but was absent in Animal Crossing: Wild World. After reappearing in Animal Crossing: City Folk, he has appeared in every game since except Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
His name is French, and may refer to Jacques Cousteau. His initial phrase, "oui oui", is French for "yes yes". His species relates to the common French stereotype in which frogs' legs are a type of food.
Despite his appearance and initial phrase in English-language localizations of the game, his name in Japanese means "spring roll", a traditionally Chinese dish. His house also has an east-Asian theme to it.
He has the fitness hobby.
