Bertha (あんこ, Anko) is a normal hippo villager from the Animal Crossing series. Her name may refer to the name "Big Bertha", a name given to a range of large cannons which may refer to her species known to be large and heavy. She shares her catchphrase with Zucker, another villager. Her Japanese name means "bean paste". Her catchphrase could also be related to the sound of splashing in water, as hippos live with areas with water.

Bertha is a teal hippo with dark blue hair. The insides of her mouth and ears are orange. She has beady black eyes, flaring nostrils, and pointy ears. Bertha's initial shirt is the Pink Tartan in Animal Crossing and the Funky Dot Shirt in Template:AC3.

House

Bertha has no specific theme, most of the furniture comes from the Modern Series, such as a Modern Bed and a Modern Table including other various items such as two instruments, two plants, and a Gold Stereo that plays K.K. Cruisin'. Her wallpaper is a Blue Trim Wall and her flooring is the stone floor. Antonio has the same house as her, but with different wallpaper and flooring.

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Bertha's house resembles a dentist's office. She has two Dentist Chairs, as well as a Drinking Fountain behind a curtain. She also has two plants, the Pothos and the Yellow Tulips, as well as a large fish. She has a Record Player that plays Space K.K.
