His name comes from a variation of the Chinese surname Zhou, and may be an attribute to his panda bear-like appearance. His Spanish name, Pando, also reflects his overall panda-like design, and his German name reflects the way his design is based off of a Chinese animal, as the name 'Chang' is Chinese. His initial phrase is the Chinese phrase for displeasure, matching his grumpy personality.

| Chow is a pink panda with black arms, eyes, and legs. He also has a mole under his left eye. His arms and legs are tipped with light-brown, and the inside of his ears are light blue with black on the outside. Chow is initially seen wearing the Star Shirt.

| As a cranky villager, Chow will appear mature compared to other personality types. This will make him appear belittling and insensitive to other villagers, including the [[player]]. Despite this, he will learn to confide in the player, considering them his only friend. He will find it difficult to socialize with [[peppy]] and [[normal]] villagers as he will criticize them. He will get along with [[lazy]], [[snooty]], and other cranky villagers, with whom he will share deeper conversations. He will occasionally [[normal]] villagers when being mean about something or someone. Also, some people think that his smile makes him somewhat demented or mental, because of the way he looks at you/the player. However, this is just a suspicion and may/may not actually be true. Of course, it is a possibility, because he is slightly creepy when he smiles.
