Chow (チャウヤン Chauyan) is a cranky bear villager from the Animal Crossing series series, and has made an appearance in every game. His name comes from a variation of the Chinese surname Zhou, and may be an attribute to his panda bear-like appearance.
Appearance
Chow is a pink bear with black arms, eyes, and legs, and also has a mole under his left eye. His arms and legs are tipped with light-brown, and his ears are light blue with black on the outside. Chow is initially seen wearing a Star shirt purchasable at Able Sisters. He uses a ribbon umbrella when it rains, and his appearance is similar to a Lazy or Jock villager.
Personality
Below is a brief description of the cranky personality. For more information, click here.
Although Chow is a cranky villager, he is actually friendlier and smarter than the standard cranky type. Chow is actually very popular with the peppy girls, as he does not argue with them. This is strange for a cranky since peppies do not get along with his personality. He will regularly ask the player for a fishing contest, and sometimes, when the player has a fish in their inventory, he will ask for the fish in exchange for Bells or an item. He has harassed many normal residents by saying "So I heard you were planning a big wedding ceremony." or refer to them as a "doodie head." It is also noted that his smile can be very unnerving, reminiscent of a crazy or disturbed person. Chow also likes pink furniture, and will ask the player to get him some. If there are multiple players in that town, he sometimes takes a real dislike to one or two of them, although he may be nice to the others.
House
In Animal Crossing (GCN), Chow has many furniture pieces from the Exotic Series, such as the Exotic Chair and the Exotic Bed, with three Gyroids: the Mega Dingloid, the Oombloid, and a Tall Lullaboid. The Tall Lullaboid may seem ironic because Cranky villagers are perceived as being rather tough. Chow has no Stereo, and plays no music in his home.
In Animal Crossing: Wild World, Chow still has many items from the Exotic Series, along with a Squat Dingloid. Chow does not have a Stereo, but if he may gain one, K.K. Steppe is played on it.
In Animal Crossing: City Folk, Chow has a lot of furniture from the Exotic Series again, but the Dingloids have been replaced by a Croakoid. K.K. Steppe will play if Chow acquires a Stereo.
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Chow continues his Exotic series theme, and now has one Tootoid. He also has two fish, one panda doll, as well as one Croton in his home. K.K. Steppe will play if Chow acquires a Stereo.
