In the Gamecube version, the music for 3 A.M. sounds like the theme of a person getting up extremely early in the morning, still groggy and tired. Since Midnight, this is the first fitting music of the day.
In Wild World and City Folk, during the start of 3 A.M., an accordion starts right away as the melody, then is accompanied with an electric piano. A vibraphone sounds, then electric chimes chime in along with repeated "tweaking" sounds in an off-beat way. It is a bright, lively song for being heard at nighttime.
In New Leaf, the music for 3 AM sounds more like the theme of someone sneaking around in the late, quiet hours of the night, not tired while the rest of the world around him sleeps.
